SZA is checking her fanbase for making her body the topic of discussion as she celebrates her album’s success. The artist told her fans she is not up for small talk, especially about her physical appearance. SZA’s outburst comes amid celebrations as the deluxe version of her album SOS reached No. 1.
The exchange began when one of her fans posted an old video of her during the 2020 quarantine. The video featured SZA sitting outdoors and talking to the camera about living in her parent’s home. The fan who uploaded the video expressed how much they missed the era, with over 14k X users agreeing. However, one comment from a fan about SZA’s weight gain and BBL surgery stood out. The comment caught SZA’s attention, and she immediately reacted with a series of posts condemning the fan’s statement. The GRAMMY winner declared:
“Yall say weird sh-t like this and wonder why I’m different and don’t feel comfortable w yall anymore. Lol.”
SZA continued that life during “Covid was hard” as her granny “had just died,” leading her into depression. She explained that she was “over working out” and was not doing well with her eating habits. The star credited her childhood home with being a solace where she could run back and “get lost.”
The Snooze singer declared she was “grateful to be in a much better mental space now.” SZA also shared on the platform that she is changing her number as the year ends tomorrow. According to TMZ, her tweets came after she and TDE President Terrence “Punch” Henderson sorted out their differences.
Inside the Singer’s SOS Deluxe Version Delayed Release
The 35-year-old’s highly anticipated deluxe version of her 2022 Grammy Winning album titled Lana finally dropped on December 20. Variety noted that numerous controversies, including false alarms about the official release date, trailed the release. She raised pulses in February when she released “Saturn” from the project with a similar cover art.
SZA’s latest project is packed full with 15 tracks and notable features including contributions from Kendrick Lamar. Their track 30 for 30 features soulful renditions from both artists who collaborated on Lamar’s GNX album. In addition to their creative partnership on their respective projects, they also have more tricks in their bags.
SZA and Lamar will also embark on a stadium tour; a testament to their seamless artistic relationship. Lil Yachty and Benny Blanco also worked on the project as producers. Essentially, SZA’s collaborators on the other songs are largely SOS producers and writers. They include acts like Michael Uzowuru, ThankGod4Cody, Rob Bisel, and Carter Lang.
SZA Pushed Back the Release Following Allegations of Fans Leaking the Project
The singer explained shortly after SOS release that the deluxe version included outtakes from SOS and new songs. She revealed that Lana was her first ever tattoo and it stuck with her as her nickname ever since. But it took strength and determination for the project to see the light as overzealous fans frustrated the artist.
SZA warned her fans to desist from leaking songs on the project, adding that she might start over. The artist changed her mind and assured her fans that Lana would be a new, standalone project. She clarified that the SOS deluxe version will feature “the leaked and the outtakes.”
A series of teasers trailed the album’s eventual release, increasing anticipation among her fans and lovers. She dropped a short video on the two-year anniversary of SOS with a snippet of a new song. The video showcased SZA in a nature setting, tugging at her baggy camo pants to pee by a creek. The singer stares longingly into the camera before taking a tissue from her pocket. The star then wiped herself up as the words Lana appeared across the screen.
SZA’s deluxe project continues to gather well-deserved accolades and recognition across boards!
