It seems Taylor Swift won’t be joining the MCU after all. On Monday, June 10, Entertainment Weekly confirmed the “Fortnight” singer will not appear in Deadpool & Wolverine despite viral rumors. The news comes less than two months before the Shawn Levy-directed film hits theaters on July 26.
Considering fans have been speculating Swift would have a cameo in the movie for years, the update is sure to leave them disappointed. The rumors she was attached to the project began in 2022 when Reynolds filmed a Deadpool teaser at the same house Swift shot All Too Well: A Short Film. Since she and Blake Lively are best friends, fans thought she and the actress’ husband decided to team up on Deadpool & Wolverine after becoming close as well.
That November, Reynolds addressed the theory himself in an interview with ET. At the time, he denied her involvement in the Deadpool sequel. However, he said he’d “of course” be open to the idea if Swift wanted to appear.
Are you kidding me? I would do anything for that woman. She’s a genius.

Fans Want Taylor Swift to Play Dazzler
Despite Reynolds denying Swift was in Deadpool & Wolverine, fans continued to believe she had a secret cameo. A popular theory was that she would portray a live-action version of Dazzler. In Marvel Comics, the blond-haired hero is known for her singing abilities. Her powers allow her to convert sound into light. Since Swift matches the character’s physical appearance and shares her love for the stage, fans thought she would be perfect as her.
Interestingly, Marvel announced in May that Dazzler would star in a new comic book limited series launching in September. Due to the theory she would appear in the new Deadpool movie, Swifties were hopeful Swift would indeed be bringing her to live action this summer.
However, based on the latest reports surrounding the film, could it all have just been a coincidence? It seems we’ll have to wait until July 26 to find out for sure.
