Taylor Swift brought an interesting accessory to the 2024 Grammys. On Sunday, Feb. 4, the “Cruel Summer” singer attended music’s biggest night with a black fan in hand. While it made her look even more glamorous, fans also think it served a secret purpose: to prevent anyone from reading her lips. This comes following the drama at the Golden Globes with Selena Gomez.
Is Taylor Swift Trying to Avoid More Lip-Reading Drama?
A few weeks ago, The Hollywood Reporter shared a video of the pair gossiping at the Golden Globes with Keleigh Sperry. At one point during the clip, Sperry appeared to ask Gomez about Timothรฉe Chalamet. The actress nodded her head in response to the question, which left both Swift and Sperry visibly shocked. Fans wondered what the trio could have possibly been talking about. However, a popular theory was that Gomez wanted a picture with Chalamet (who starred alongside her inย A Rainy Day in New York) but his girlfriend, aka Kylie Jenner, refused.
Gomez has since denied she was gossiping about the couple, but that hasn’t stopped fans from assuming there was drama between her and Jenner at the Golden Globes. With this in mind, it’s possible Swift wanted to avoid another lip-reading scandal by covering her mouth with a fan at the Grammys. If so, it worked. Although the cameras at one point caught the singer chatting with Jack Antonoff, it was hard to tell what they were saying due to her fan being in the way.
Unfortunately, Swift’s night wasn’t entirely drama-free. While accepting the award for Album of the Year, the star made headlines for seemingly snubbing Celine Dion on stage. The legendary singer handed the award to Swift but didn’t appear to be acknowledged by her. However, the pair did meet up backstage. Following the show, photos surfaced of Swift and Dion hugging and laughing together. So, it seemed Swift did greet Dion at the Grammys after all.
