Did you catch that Taylor Swift reference during WrestleMania 40? After Jason Kelce made a surprise appearance during the show, Peacock commentators Michael Cole and Pat McAfee couldn’t help but mention the singer’s relationship with Jason’s brother, Travis Kelce. Although it was a cool moment for Swifties, the WWE made one mistake when talking about the pop star and her famous boyfriend.
Taylor Swift and WWE Collide During WrestleMania 40
On Saturday, April 6, Jason stepped into the ring to help Rey Mysterio and Andrade win against Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar. Since the recently retired Philadelphia Eagles player is a beloved figure in the City of Brotherly Love, the crowd at WrestleMania 40 naturally went wild over his appearance. After taking off his mask to reveal his identity, Jason strutted around the ring to bask in the glory following his win with Rey Mysterio and Andrade.
As Jason was enjoying the reaction from the WrestleMania 40 crowd, Cole asked his co-host:
Isn’t that what’s her name’s brother-in-law?
Michael Cole
Of course, Cole was referencing Swift, who has been dating Travis Kelce since last summer. Although their relationship is rumored to be serious, the couple is not engaged or married, meaning Jason isn’t Swift’s brother-in-law. Cole’s mistake didn’t seem to phase McAfee, however, as the host began singing Swift’s hit single “22.”
Are you feeling 22? Is that who you’re talking about? Cardigan? Yeah.
Pat McAfee
The Taylor Swift shoutout during WrestleMania 40 was a nice surprise for fans of the singer. One person reacted to the moment on X by writing:
As a swiftie and a wrestling fan, I never thought I’d see a direct connection between Taylor Swift and WWE

Swift is currently enjoying some quality time with Travis before she resumes her Eras Tour. After visiting Nashville, the couple is rumored to be attending Coachella later this month in order to see Lana Del Rey perform.
