The former One Direction singer shocked the music industry when he died on Wednesday while vacationing in Argentina. Now, like others, Swift is planning to do something special to honor Payne in the days following his untimely death. It appears that she’ll be mourning alongside her fans as more details about Payne’s death emerge.
The Daily Mail reports that Taylor Swift was very sad to hear about Liam Payne’s passing. Over the years, Swift had interactions with Payne as a member of One Direction. She also dated his bandmate, Harry Styles. Now she feels like it’s only right to pay tribute to the late singer when she heads back out for the final leg of her Eras tour later this month.
“She is really sad about this because she came up with those boys and she had a lot of love for Liam,” an insider revealed. “He was always good to her.”

Back in 2017, Payne spoke out about Swift on the red carpet at the Jingle Bell Ball. He revealed that the singer had sent him a basket of gear promoting her Reputation album. “She’s got very good handwriting,” he dished.
While some have spoken out criticizing Swift’s decision to honor Payne, others are defending her.
“Like, she knew him. He had spoken of her, and she had dated his bandmate while the band was a thing. It would look pretty bad if she did nothing,” one person commented.
“Others like Rita Ora have already paid tribute, why not Taylor? She knew him. She’s allowed to be sad about the heartbreaking loss. They likely share a lot of the same fanbase,” stated another.
Liam Payne was reported dead at the age of 31 on Wednesday evening after he fell from a third story hotel balcony. Police arrived on the scene after they were called due to the singer’s “aggressive” behavior, which was thought to be the result of drugs or alcohol. Payne sadly leaves behind a son, Bear, 7, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Cherl Cole.
Taylor Swift has not publicly spoken out about Liam Payne’s death. However, if she does pay tribute to him during the Eras tour, there likely won’t be a dry eye in the house.
