The Taylor Swift and Kanye West feud continues. On Thursday, Aug. 15, the singer appeared to reignite her rivalry with the rapper by shading him with her latest music release. She announced the latest digital version of The Tortured Poets Department will feature a live recording of “thanK you aIMee.” To celebrate, she gave the track a new title. Fans are convinced it includes a dig toward West.
Taylor Swift and Kanye West Feud Far From Over
The song has been retitled to “thank You aimEe.” Since the capital letters spell West’s legal name YE, fans think Swift is sending the rapper a message that their feud isn’t over yet. In fact, it seems she still has bad blood with both him and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. After all, the original “thanK you aIMee” spelled out KIM. It also included several references to the reality star throughout its lyrics.
During the song, Swift sings about a bully who would write “headlines” about her and “laugh.” The line appears to be a nod toward the infamous phone call between Taylor Swift and Kanye West in 2016. After Swift denied having approved of West’s “Famous” song lyrics about her, Kardashian leaked a phone call making it seem like she was lying. The situation was so bad that Swift took a break from the public eye.
In “thanK you aIMee,” Swift talks about overcoming a dark time in her life by letting it fuel her toward even greater success. She shades her bully by singing, “All that time you were throwing punches, I was building something.”
The new version of the song comes at an interesting time. Earlier this week, The Tortured Poets Department blocked West’s new album Vultures 2 from debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The move ended the rapper’s streak of debuting all of his albums at the top of the chart.
