Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings series teaser trailer will air during the Super Bowl this weekend! The highly anticipated television series is finally coming out in the fall this year. There has not been a lot of details on what the show’s synopsis is about, but according to Amazon, the show “brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings“. The Lord of the Rings will reportedly be the most expensive television show. The first season cost at least $465 million!

Production for the series was filmed in New Zealand and then finished up in the U.K. Amazon ordered the series for 8 episodes and has plans to make more seasons for years to come. The cast includes Peter Mullan, Benjamin Walker, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Trystan Gravelle, and Sara Zwangobani. There is no report of familiar faces from the franchise to return, but you never know.
