Per TMZ, Jene Galvin, a spokesperson for Springer’s family, confirmed the icon’s death in a statement on Thursday. According to the statement, Jerry Springer died peacefully at home in Chicago. The rep also revealed the politician died a few months after he received a cancer diagnosis. Besides sharing the details of Springer’s death, the statement contained some amazing things about TV personality Jerry Springer. The spokesperson attributed Springer’s success in politics, broadcasting, and other aspects to his ability to connect with people.
Galvin then described his old friend as “irreplaceable,” adding that his demise was very painful. However, Galvin said memories of Springer’s intellect, heart, and humor would always live on. The influential broadcaster is survived by his daughter, Katie, and sister, Evelyn. Jerry Springer’s death comes a few days after another TV icon Len Goodman died.

Before gaining widespread recognition in television, Springer was a politician. He served on Cincinnati’s council in 1971. Springer became elected as the city’s mayor six years later, serving one term. In 1982, the icon aimed higher when he decided to run for Ohio governor. However, he lost the election.
After politics, Springer delved into journalism and broadcasting, working as a news anchor and commentator at WLWT in Ohio. Then, in 1991, he launched The Jerry Springer Show, where he served as the show’s host. After 27 years, the series ended in 2018, and Springer launched another show, Judge Jerry. The show lasted for three seasons before it ended. In 2022, Springer appeared on television for the last time on an episode of The Masked Singer. The icon performed as The Beetle, singing a Frank Sinatra classic. Even though Jerry Springer is dead, he will always be remembered.
