A woman in Tennessee canceled her son’s playdate with one of his friends. According to her, that is because her son’s friend’s father is a registered sex offender, a piece of information the boy’s mother had kept away from her until the very last moment.

I will never apologize for taking my child’s safety this seriously. i want to believe that the people in our communities are generally good and then shit like this happens.

TikTok user trashbbabyy (Alyssa) shared her story online. She usually uploads a variety of content, mostly lifestyle-related. However, her clip outperformed most of her other videos, garnering 392,700 views, 73,200 likes, and 695 comments in just two days.

The Tennessee woman shared in her clip that the mother of her friend’s mother recently texted her to set up a playdate. Alyssa suggested going somewhere public because she is “very wary about going to people’s houses.” The other mother, however, explained that their family only has one car, and getting a ride was going to be hard.

Alyssa understood, and then she agreed to take her son to the playdate at his friend’s house. However, shortly after, she came across a disturbing finding.

“Turns out her husband is a registered sex offender,” Alyssa said.

In a follow-up clip, Alyssa explained that she had searched for the mother’s last name in the sex offender registry. The search came back positive, as the name of the woman’s husband appeared. Not only that, but the registered address also matched the woman’s.

Alyssa ended up confronting the woman, who explained that she wanted to tell her about her husband once she and her son arrived at the house. According to Alyssa, the woman didn’t want to have that conversation “over the phone,” even though they had seen each other in person multiple times.

“Put people’s last [expletive] names into the sex offender registry before you and your kids go hang out with them,” the Tennessee woman concluded. “Seriously.”

Users React To The Story

The video sparked multiple heated responses.

Some users wondered why the woman refused to tell Alyssa about her husband until the very last moment. One user theorized, “She was never going to tell you.” Another one said, “She was grooming you to eventually leave your child there unattended.”

Other users were just worried about Alyssa’s son’s friend, with one viewer commenting, “I hope their kid is okay.” Finally, others were thankful that Alyssa’s son was not put in potential danger, with one person saying, “As a pregnant woman, this terrifies me. So glad your son is safe.”

The sensitive topic, which involves children, led to a lot of engagement, as angry users, as well as curious ones, flooded Alyssa’s comments section. With many others sharing their own scary parenting stories, it is no wonder that her clip is as popular as it is.

In her follow-up, Alyssa said that the other mother has asked multiple people to bring their kids for playdates in the past. She is now looking into reporting the whole situation to the authorities.
