A man from Tennessee got a little too worried on the road after her mother reminded him why he doesn’t like to get in a car with her. Apparently, the mother loves to play color-by-numbers on her phone a little too much, which normally wouldn’t be a problem except she also likes to play these apps and games on her phone while driving on a curvy mountain road at 60 MPH, no less.
This scary moment was caught on camera by Reddit user Straight_Main_5189, also the Tennessee man in question. Straight_Main_5189 recently posted his woes about his mother in a recent car ride, and his post has since gone viral due to how dangerous his mother’s activity was:
In the image captured by the Reddit user, you can see the driver pushing 60 MPH (100 KM/H) based on the speedometer while also fiddling with a color-by-numbers game on her phone. To make matters worse, Straight_Main_5189 also stated that all this was happening while his mother was driving on a curvy mountain road, most of which are known for narrow lanes, blind spots, and sharp turns.
Thankfully, it appears no accident happened despite that reckless gamble with death over a color-by-numbers app. Reddit user Straight_Main_5189 seems to have gotten home safely and is back to sharing his hobbies on Reddit, which means his mother and all other passengers in the car are also safe. Still, some Redditors were deeply concerned about the mother’s behavior and suggested that she needs a wake-up call from her son.
Not the Best Way to Drive
People online, of course, heavily criticized the Tennessee resident’s mother and urged him to have a heart-to-heart talk with his mom about staying safe on the road. Any kind of phone usage is notably a distraction if you’re driving, even if you’re using the phone to check directions.
Moreover, playing games while driving tends to take away the driver’s attention from the road, and even a split-second of absent-mindedness on a mountain road is already a recipe for disaster. Straight_Main_5189 is actually sensible in this matter and doesn’t want to be in his mother’s car anymore, which confuses his mother, although it also means he hasn’t confronted her about it.
Even a morgue technician has chimed in on the discussion, asking the Tennessee man to do something about his mother’s driving distractions before she becomes a statistic or contributes to it. It’s not clear whether a personal discussion took place or not, but most people are comparing the mother’s activity to drunk driving.
“She needs a heart to heart talk. Sheโs going to seriously injure herself or kill someone. This is right up there with drunk driving,” warns Easy-Barnacle5734
“You better grow some balls and talk to her before a statistic increases. Telling us itโs being done on a curvy mountain too? STOP POSTING AND SAY SOMETHING. -sincerely a former morgue technician,” urges The-Final-Reason
“I’m sorry OP this is difficult. But by being so passive about it you’re not helping either. If my mom did this I’d confront her about it (but I’m somewhat aggressive) and probably demand her phone from her while in the car together. A less aggressive approach might be to still confront her and maybe refuse to get in if she doesn’t put her phone in a hands-free or hands it over?” suggests NoMaintenance9685
