Being the one at the door ushering people into strip clubs has to be an interesting job. Luckily for us, a songwriter from Tennessee, who doubles as a door girl, has several videos of interesting characters she encounters. It’s a window into the underground scene, with equal parts creepy, goofy, and downright rude people. And to make matters worse, many of these night owls are, for some reason, incredibly cheap.
Outside of songwriting, Karly (TikTok/karlydriftwood) will post behind-the-scenes interactions she has with customers who drop by at the strip club she’s a door girl for. What’s crazy is that it’s just a montage of her wild encounters in just a span of “2 hours of a 9 hour shift.”
The first clip the customer says he’ll just hand over his ID, then he’ll “walk in now.” Karly, without missing a beat, corrects him, saying, “Actually, you gotta pay to get in,” then gives him the price.
Another customer tried to negotiate. “Can we not pay cover?” he asks. He argues he’ll “spend money” once he’s inside. Karly slowly shakes her head and responds with, “Everyone has to pay cover.” She even tells some customers they can bring their own alcohol, as long as they pay cover.
College students even stopped by and tried to hustle Karly. Since they were “broke,” they figured they’d get in for free, but Karly argues “This is the last place you should be at. You come here to spend money.” And she’s 100% correct. No wonder Karly admits in her video she was “not having fun.” These people are insufferable!
How People Reacted to Karly’s Ability to Handle Aggravating Customers
For many, just watching the montage of interactions Karly had was exhausting for them (myself included). The amount of disrespect she has to deal with on a regular basis is eyerolling. You have to have incredible self-control to do this job it seems.
Some commenters were dumbfounded by the number of people unwilling to pay the fee or otherwise confused by the concept. “We’re pressed about $32?” asked one.
One commenter wrote, “If you have no money to spend then you don’t come see the girls. Why would they even want them in there?” How would they even stay in business? Good wishes?
Another commenter was impressed by the way Karly could be “polite” and have “contempt” for the customers. “You are a master at your craft,” they added.
One commenter shared their experience as a bartender at a strip club. “My last day is Wednesday. This is why,” they stated. So, really, it just seems like these venues sometimes attract jerks and cheapskates.
