We know Linda Hamilton is returning to the Terminator franchise to reprise Sarah Connor, and that Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as the T-800. Other known cast members include Mackenzie Davis, Diego Boneta, Natalia Reyes, and Gabriel Luna. Luna is well known for his portrayal of Ghost Rider on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but he’s trading in his dark hero mantle for one of cold, murderous steel. He’s playing the antagonist for this Terminator “rebootquel” and having lots of fun on set – some of which might or might not have anything to do with the actual movie.

The movie, simply called Terminator for the time being, had its release date pushed back from July 2019 to November that same year. Schwarzenegger is recovering from major heart surgery (and doing just fine, so no need to worry), but Paramount promises the two aren’t related. Whatever the case, we’re glad the former Governor or California pulled through.

Shooting is currently underway in Spain. According to the T-800, he’ll be sent back in time to 2019 to bust President Donald Trump out of prison for colluding with the Russians. No actual plot details have been released, but it will probably center around an evil robot from the future trying to kill important people while another robot from the future tries to prevent that from happening. Oh, sorry, should that have had a spoiler alert? We do also know that this Terminator will be a sequel to the second movie, dropping the established history from the third movie onward.

It will probably be a while before any more news or tidbits emerge, and Paramount isn’t expected to announce anything at any cons. It’ll be an event to look forward to for sure with so many major names and returning veterans in the crew list. A year and a third isn’t all that much time to wait, anyway.
