As populations grow and cities expand, more of nature is inevitably displaced. However, nature is so powerful that it has learned to adapt to humans, no matter how advanced our technology becomes. So, although terrifying, it is not uncommon for people to find animals in their homes, as this homeowner in Cave Creek, Arizona, discovered when they had to call in experts to remove a hibernating rattlesnake from their garage. Fortunately, no one was injured, neither the snake nor the person.

Redditor Crotalus shared a video on r/arizona of one of their rescues during their workday. OP says they will have to catch rattlesnakes across Arizona over the next few months as their hibernating season begins. OP also explained: “Rattlesnakes look to hibernate in temperature-stable, easy-hiding spots. In many areas where development has removed the natural den spots, this means the garage.” Although dangerous to snakes and humans, they will prefer to seek refuge near settlements and inside houses. Therefore, you must be alert to your surroundings.

It is to be expected that not many people would be thrilled to find such a slithering visitor in their homes, but it is best to remain calm and not act impulsively. Fortunately, some experts relocate them to safe places where snakes cannot harm humans or vice versa.

“New fear unlocked,” said yeyman.

“Thank you for capturing to release to a safer location! ❤️,” commented batsforbrains.

“Good for people…bad for snakes,” added ohn_Coctoastan.

Some users reported that snakes sometimes suffer greatly even when relocated safely. However, OP explained that snakes are actually declining in number, mainly because humans put them at risk. In addition, the recent droughts have reduced the number of births, so they hope this year will not be as dry and that the snake population will not continue to decline.

The recommendation is that anyone living in an area such as Arizona should always be alert on the road and at home. If you encounter a snake, it is best to move away and stay out of the snake’s striking range. Then, call the emergency number or experts so they can catch the animal and relocate it safely. Never, under any circumstances, confront a snake yourself without the necessary equipment or experience to handle such emergencies. Never put yourself at risk, and it’s better to be patient.
