The in-car entertainment systems are going crazy. Tesla was the one who started the competition between the manufacturers. Back in a few years, entertainment systems were only expected to play music through Bluetooth. Now things are different, and some of the new cars could run a few games to stress out. But Tesla just reached another level and released the Steam games feature for Tesla cars. The feature is in the beta process, but it works surprisingly well. We heard that the company was working to bring that support earlier this year. And now, Tesla’s entertainment system works like a Steam Deck and lets you play while sitting in the car.
Tesla’s entertainment systems carry powerful hardware. The 2022 model vehicles’ entertainment system comes with 16GB RAM and an APU powerful enough to play some games. The hardware is nearly powerful as Steam Deck, and the games that Steam Deck could run smoothly, Tesla will either.
Tesla Cars Has Steam Games Feature Now
You need to get a Premium Connectivity subscription to use Steam. It’s priced at 10$ monthly or 100$ yearly, and it also brings a few more features you might want. And the store is currently only available on Model S and Model X cars with 16GB RAM. As Elon Musk says, the requirements will be changed in the future:

The biggest benefit is playing in a Tesla is the sound system. Tesla has a good surround of speakers that could improve your game experience. The other thing is compatibility because it’s possible to play heavy-graphic games like Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077. Tesla should’ve worked a lot on the software optimization because it needs a lot of work to make an entertainment system run like a Steam Deck.
It looks like the developers first wanted to optimize the software for the 16GB RAM option. We hope to see the feature for older models and lower RAM options as soon as possible.
