Nintendo recently announced via the Tetris 99 Online Events page that the game’s 6th Maximus Cup event will be a collaboration with Fire Emblem, similar to last month’s crossover event with Splatoon 2. The event will run in Europe from 8:00 AM UK time on August 23rd to 7:59 on August 27th, and offers up a sick-nasty Fire Emblem: Three Houses theme to Tetris masters who can score 100 points throughout the event.
If you’re new to Tetris 99 and are wondering how much of a time commitment 100 points will demand of you, Reddit users were quick to ask the same thing. As it turns out, 100 points should be a pretty easy target.

As mentioned before, this event follows on the heels of a few others of the sort, like last month’s Splatoon 2 cup and May’s Game Boy Grand Prix. Both events offered some pretty rad themes, so this one will surely be pretty top quality.
As of right now, there hasn’t been an official announcement for a North American run of this event, but traditionally these Maximus Cups are a worldwide event, so we should be getting some news on that front pretty soon.
If you’re itching for some Tetris action in the meantime, Tetris 99 is a free game offered with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Nintendo also recently released a Big Block DLC for the game that adds two offline modes to the game in addition to it’s online Battle Royale, but you still need an NSO subscription to use those. If you’re looking for something a bit more traditional but at the same time entirely new, I also can not recommend Tetris Effect on the PS4 and PC enough.
Additionally, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is available on the Nintendo Switch for $59.99, and is also a phenomenal game; go check that out once you unlock the theme in Tetris 99!
