Many people in Texas might remember how awful the snowstorm of 2021 was. It was a terrible situation for many citizens and one that we might see repeated in the coming days. If you’re unaware, there have been several warnings about a massive ice storm approaching the north of the state. Since the last time, this catastrophe hasn’t been too friendly to Texas citizens, and several people have officially gone into survival mode, emptying almost every supermarket in certain cities as people start preparing for the worst.

The pictures come from a Redditor who says some supermarkets in northern Texas are empty now, and that citizens are going into survival mode as they prepare for the imminent snowstorm. As you can see in the images, products on almost all shelves are gone, and while many expect the snow to only give Texans around 2 inches and the storm to leave around Sunday noon, the truth is that this isn’t an overreaction.

Some might not remember this, but 2021 was one of the worst years for Texas due to the power outages caused by the ice storm. Hundreds of people died due to this situation that left millions of homes and businesses without power for several days, hence why people are making their due preparations ahead of any bad weather situation.

Sadly, many Redditors saw this as overkill, saying Texans are exaggerating about the storm. However, some are outsiders who don’t know about the actual impact this had a few years ago. A few Redditors were kind enough to share the dangers of this upcoming snowstorm with others.

“Texas still hasn’t upgraded its power grid to deal with another winter storm, so I don’t blame Texans for clearing out the stores,” commented Bug-King.

“During the last winter freeze, more than 100k Houston homes had a busted water pipe because of a power outage. I don’t blame them,” said Logical_Froyo.

As you can see, the situation is worse than any of us can imagine, so in this scenario, it is better to err on the side of caution. We don’t know just how bad the storm will be, even if some predict it will only bring two inches of snow. In the end, we never know what Mother Nature has in store, and all we can do is hope for the best. We also hope that those in Texas stay safe and that this snowstorm doesn’t hit the state as badly as it did a few years ago.
