Unfortunately, animal abuse happens more than anyone would like. Abuse can come in different forms as well, and usually, you can tell when an animal is being abused. Sometimes, though, it might not be clear if something bad is actually happening to a dog or not. This was the case with a Texas content creator who posted a video of her dog on TikTok. The video divided the audience into two groups: one group thought that the video was funny, while the second group believed that the dog was being abused. While the video doesn’t show any physical or verbal violence, the dog didn’t exactly look like he was comfortable.
In the video posted by the Texas TikToker, you see her confronting her dog because he bit her slipper. “It’s been a minute, but he’s back at it,” she says while holding the slipper. What made people assume that her dog was being abused was how he kept standing in the corner almost like he didn’t want to be there. This made many people claim that she wasn’t treating her dog right. Of course, some people defended the owner and she even defended herself. She posted another video where her dog is clearly seen playing with her and another man. This video also made people mock everyone who claimed that this is an abused dog. I mean it’s better to be safe than sorry. Some dogs wouldn’t react this way so I can see why people assumed that the dog was abused.
People Reacting to the Texas Content Creator’s Video
Since a lot of people commented before the Texas woman posted the second video, you can see several comments alleging abuse on the original video. One person was quick to say, “that dog is 110% abused and traumatised.” Someone else stated that they would be reporting this. “That’s not even funny this is pure abuse and I will be reporting this hope yk,” they wrote. Another woman believed that the dog was abused because he looked scared. “Absolutely not, your dog should not cower in fear from you. And being proud of it is disgusting. Humans genuinely are the most thoughtless beings,” she wrote. The owner responded to some of these comments by using the tomato emoji; that’s one way to fight back abuse allegations.
On the other hand, a lot of comments found that the video was funny and didn’t indicate abuse at all. “He tryna merge into the wall,” one person said. One also compared the Texas dog to a vase as they wrote, “Why are you talking to a vase in that corner mam.” Under the second video, a TikTok user wrote, “I’m so tired of people screaming animal abuse for the dumbest stuff. If the animals abused so bad go to your local shelter and save them abused babies..oh, you don’t have a dog do you??? Just get on my nerves.” I can understand the frustration, but sometimes people just want to make sure that dogs are safe. What matters is that everything was clarified, and no dog was being abused.
