Citizens of Plano, Texas, have had a rough morning already. If by any chance you were driving on the 75 southbound near Spring Creek, chances are you might have been stuck in traffic for a while or still are, and there’s a reason behind it. Apparently, a vehicle fire broke out, bringing all traffic to a halt. Yet, it seems the situation is more perilous than one would imagine, as other car accidents began to occur during the fire, making it even more dangerous for those on that Texas highway.
Vehicle Fire Breaks Out on the 75 Near Spring Creek
As reported by one Redditor and now by a few other outlets, a fire broke out this morning on the 75 near Spring Creek. At first, and according to several Redditors, no one knew what this was all about. However, the OP shared that it was a vehicle fire due to the thick smoke coming out.
According to other eyewitnesses at the scene, the fire started after a crash in Texas, in which the car rolled over and caught fire, bringing all traffic to a halt. As soon as people reported this, authorities got there as fast as possible and controlled the situation. However, all lanes were closed for about 40 minutes.
At the time of writing, it seems at least one lane has re-opened, allowing traffic to move again, albeit slowly. Other Redditors commented that a few minor accidents also occurred due to this. While there isn’t official information about those, we can imagine a few crashes due to people slowing down at the sight of halted traffic, which is common in these situations.
It’s unclear whether the driver of the now charred vehicle was hurt, but we can only hope that they made it out safely before the fire broke out. Still, it seems that the fire was contained, and it didn’t spread to other vehicles around it, meaning that it was just this car that was totalled in the accident, which is a silver lining for those who were near it.
In any case, this accident shocked many drivers on the highway and those about to drive through it.
“I just drove past this going the other direction! It was completely engulfed in flames. I hope nobody is hurt.” – Pripyatic via Reddit.
“That explains why 75 was such a disaster this morning, and I ended up taking an alternate route to work.” – Decade4434 via Reddit.
Furthermore, we should praise how fast the authorities and emergency services arrived at the scene. Car fires are among the worst, so it’s great to see how quickly this one was contained. Still, it ‘ unfortunate that this situation affected several people today.
