Due to DOGE and the Trump administration’s sweeping cuts on federal funding, many U.S. residents — especially the more marginalised and the more vulnerable within society — have been hit hard. From cutting funds for medicine, science, and cancer research to the USPS, energy projects, and education, around 2,600 federal programs have been put at risk, per Evergreen Action. As these political decisions begin to bed in, citizens who’re against the cuts have taken to the streets to protest across the country. Another form of protest that’s been quite common globally, however, is vandalism targeting Tesla vehicles. The latest? A man in Texarkana, Texas was caught damaging Tesla cars with his mini four-wheeler, and the incident was filmed and shared to social media for all to see.
The brief snippet of footage sees a man — Demarqeyun Cox, 33 — driving his four-wheeler vehicle and intentionally slamming it into the side of a parked Tesla. Reportedly, a nearby restaurant named Golden Palace, situated on Summerhill Road, was the first to report the disturbance, per ABC17News. Allegedly, Cox damaged multiple Tesla vehicles during his spree of vandalism.
Once Texarkana police arrived on the scene, they questioned the suspect, though Cox initially gave a false name. However, he was soon identified as the suspect in question and was swiftly taken into custody. Interestingly, while Cox was in custody, a further report of Tesla damage came in, this time at Genesis Prime Care on College Drive. While Cox has only been charged with one count of felony criminal mischief and failure to identify, police officers are trying to determine if Cox is responsible for the later incidents. If they can confirm that he is responsible, he’ll face additional charges.
As expected, the internet was quick to flood the comments section as soon as they witnessed the footage. One Redditor wrote, “Person should be pretty easy to locate, and they aren’t going to run away.” while another jokingly referenced the chart-topping Limp Bizkit hit Rolling by adding, ““They see me rolling… they hating….””
Currently, Cox is being held in the Bi-State Jail as the Texarkana police continue their investigation.
