Texas Man Says Crack in Lennar Home Grew So Wide He Can See Outside: ‘Then What Is It?’

Apparently, walls cracking is just décor

Texas Man Films Cracks Splitting His House in Half, Builder Shrugs It Off: 'Take Them to Court'

A Texas homeowner says cracks that started as barely noticeable lines in his Lennar home have grown so dramatically in one year that he can now see through one of them to the outside.

The widening gaps aren’t the only problems he shows. Doors no longer close properly, cracks stretch across walls and ceilings, and a bathroom faucet appears to be pulling away from the tile.

But according to the homeowner, Lennar’s assessment hasn’t matched what he’s seeing. He claims the builder told him the problems were “purely cosmetic” and “not a structural concern.”

Our @Lennar home has significant structural issues but they won’t fix it. Our house is still inside a 10-year warranty. For the last 12 months, we’ve been fighting with them to fix this. Every time, they tell us there is nothing to fix, and that huge gap in the side is just cosmetic and “not a structural component of the house”. Massive fail, Lennar! #lennarhomes #beware #fail #warranty #help

According to the homeowner, the damage looked very different a year ago. He says some of the cracks were barely noticeable, while one that was once roughly the width of his thumb has widened enough that he can now see through it to the outside.

He says he has spent roughly 12 months trying to get the problems addressed. According to his account, Lennar sent inspectors to evaluate the property before he received an email describing the reported issues as “not a structural concern” and “purely cosmetic.”

Viewers Can’t Agree on What They’re Seeing

While many viewers urged the homeowner to hire an independent structural engineer, others argued that at least some of the visible exterior damage might not be structural.

“It’s not structural,” one commenter argued after seeing the exterior gap.

Another viewer pushed back: “Then what is it? It’s through the ENTIRE house.”

Someone else argued that the visible brick itself isn’t structural and compared its role to siding. But other viewers pointed to the combination of widening cracks, interior damage and doors that reportedly no longer close as reasons they would want an independent inspection.

Without an independent engineering assessment, the cause and severity of the problems shown in the video remain unclear. For the homeowner, the debate doesn’t change what he wants next: another look at damage he says has continued getting worse while his home remains under warranty.
