Doing wrong is one thing, but doing so shamelessly even after being confronted about it really displays someone’s character. Reddit user Arissaaah claims she’s encountered such a person in her Southern California neighborhood, and unfortunately, she’s become a victim of this menace. This individual is a woman who has reportedly made multiple visits to Arissaaah’s home and searched her porch for things to take. The thing is, she isn’t doing this in secret; “She knows she’s on camera,“ OP explained.
This scavenger has allegedly been going through other people’s stuff around Arissaaah’s neighborhood. In her post, Arissaaah explains that the lady has stolen her neighbors’ packages, tried doors to see whether they’re unlocked, and even gone through dumpsters, leaving trash everywhere. Even after being told over five times that she’s being recorded, “She doesn’t care and comes back within the week,” OP says.
Arissaaah denies the woman is homeless, based on her clean clothes, and the police seemingly haven’t done anything about it, despite receiving reports online of the culprit’s behavior. Yet, people urge Arissaaah not to give in and continue bugging the authorities over the matter.
“Call them every. Single. Time. Put no trespassing signs up. And unfortunately maybe move all your stuff off the porch,” suggests a user. “I’d print her image out and hang it where she can see it and tell her you’ve filed a police report and she is going to be arrested if she shows up again,” recommends another.
The Woman Is Often Too Quick for Police or OP to Catch Her in the Act
People wondered why Arissaaah didn’t go out to stop her in the video. She responded, saying that the woman does her scavenging rounds quickly, making it difficult for her or the police to catch her in the act. Some people attribute the woman’s behavior to mental illness, as Arissaaah claims she’ll even check a decoy box with nothing but dirt inside multiple times.
As to whether Arissaaah can get the law on her side against this neighborhood menace, it’ll be tricky but doable if something ends up happening, especially with all the Ring camera footage she’s appeared in. However, if OP and her neighbors really want to put a stop to this scavenger, getting the mail police involved would be their best bet, considering she has allegedly stolen packages.
