A Texas man has gone viral after posting a video showing large cracks running through his walls, ceiling, and foundation, along with a bathroom faucet coming loose from the wall, after Lennar Homes told him the damage was “purely cosmetic.” He said he’s spent the last 12 months trying to get the builder to acknowledge and fix the problems while the home is still under its 10-year warranty. The video has drawn widespread attention online, with viewers questioning how a builder could call this kind of damage minor.
The footage was posted to TikTok under the username @texpatbbq, known as “TexpatBBQ, Your Brisket Daddy,” and quickly spread across social media as viewers reacted to the extent of the damage. It gained significant traction, with people sharing it across multiple platforms and weighing in on what the homeowner should do next.
The clip shows a large fissure running from the foundation up the exterior of the house, as well as a spot where the homeowner says the structure is visibly pushing through the roofline. Inside, he films a crack running clean through one bathroom wall to the other, a bath faucet detaching from the tile, and further splits spreading across the walls and ceilings throughout the home. The Texas man also points out doors that no longer close properly.
According to the homeowner, many of these were barely visible hairline fractures a year ago. One that used to be about as thick as his thumb has since widened to the point where he says he can see straight through to the outside. He said Lennar sent inspectors to evaluate the foundation and the issues he’d reported, but the company followed up with an email stating the problems were “not a structural concern” and were “purely cosmetic.” He said the builder maintains there’s nothing significant to address, though it has not refused repairs outright.
The video closes with him directly questioning the company, asking when Lennar plans to “do the right thing” and fix his home. It’s not yet clear whether Lennar has issued a public response to the viral clip or agreed to send additional inspectors to reevaluate the property.
