A Texas homeowner who says Lennar dismissed worsening cracks in his home as “purely cosmetic” is now showing viewers just how far he believes the damage extends.
In a follow-up video, the homeowner traces what he says is the same cracking from one exterior side of the house, through several rooms and all the way to the opposite exterior wall. He also revealed that he had his own inspector examine the property before Lennar sent people to evaluate it.
According to the homeowner, his inspector identified what appeared to be a foundation crack along with other problems before he contacted Lennar.
He says Lennar later sent two people to inspect the property and take measurements of the floor. According to his account, they concluded that the foundation was within acceptable limits and that the visible cracking was not structural.
The homeowner remains unconvinced. In the follow-up footage, he starts outside at what he describes as a foundation crack, follows the damage upward and then walks through the house, pointing out cracking in the dining room, bathroom and garage before reaching the opposite exterior wall.
The inspection findings described by the homeowner have not been independently verified, and a structural engineering report establishing the cause of the damage has not been made public.
The homeowner previously showed cracks across interior walls and ceilings, doors he says no longer close properly and an exterior gap that widened significantly over roughly a year. He said one opening had grown large enough that he could see through it to the outside.
According to the homeowner, Lennar later described the reported problems in an email as “purely cosmetic” and “not a structural concern.”
Dispute Spills Onto Lennar’s Social Media
The homeowner says the dispute has also spilled onto Lennar’s social media pages. In another update, he claimed people began leaving comments about his home on the company’s Instagram account before comments were disabled.
He showed screenshots of some of the messages he says appeared on the page. While comments have been restricted on some Lennar posts, it has not been independently established that the change was made in response to his videos.
For now, the homeowner and Lennar’s reported assessment remain at odds over what the visible damage means. The homeowner says the cracking has continued to worsen, while the inspection he attributes to Lennar concluded the foundation remained within acceptable limits.
Without a publicly available independent structural engineering report, the cause and severity of the damage remain unresolved.
