A Texas mother faced backlash after proudly showing off her 14-year-old son in court following armed robbery charges.

The mother shared a short video of her son wearing an orange inmate uniform in court. As she filmed him, he began making hand signs commonly associated with gang culture or misconduct. The mother faced criticism for recording her son in this situation and sharing the footage online.

The criticism intensified because of the charges the teenager was facing. “My babe 14 years old his first charges armed robbery, possession of firearm,” the mother wrote over the video. She also said that he had been in custody since August 17. “Court appointed played in court 10/13 so I had to get him a paid lawyer,” she continued.

The mother also expressed her determination to stand by her son throughout the legal process. “So my baby want go down bout he say she say I pray he wake up from this but he know mama here no matter what I got cha Fa sho my guy,” she wrote. Her supportive message, combined with the nature of the charges and the decision to share the footage publicly, drew further criticism from viewers.

In the caption, the mother said she would not wish the situation on any parent. She also addressed other mothers, encouraging them not to view their children’s bad decisions as a sign that they had failed as parents. Despite her message, she continued to face criticism online.

The mother later shared another video in which she said she was a 35-year-old single mother of five and that she and her children were doing well. She also claimed that although her son faced two counts of firearm possession, he had not actually possessed the weapons. Defending both herself and her children, she described them as respectful and maintained that there was no evidence against her son. These claims have not been independently verified.

Many viewers criticized the mother for seemingly treating her 14-year-old son’s legal situation too casually rather than acknowledging the seriousness of the charges against him. Some took issue with her decision to film him in an inmate uniform while he made hand gestures associated with gang culture, arguing that sharing the footage online was inappropriate given the circumstances.

Others objected to what they saw as public support for her son without sufficient recognition of the alleged armed robbery and firearm offenses. Her language also drew criticism, as some viewers felt her message focused on standing by her son through the situation rather than addressing the gravity of the allegations against him.

Viewers Slam Texas Mom Over Video of Son

Several people criticized the Texas mother for sharing the video of her son and discussing the charges he was facing, arguing that he should be held accountable for his alleged actions and that she bore some responsibility for his behavior. “Lock the momma too cause what,” one person wrote. Another commenter expressed anger over the situation, saying, “Can somebody tell me what state this is? I’m personally writing a letter to the judge to petition for a life sentence.”

Other commenters criticized the mother over her language and what they saw as a lack of guidance for her son. “Based off of that paragraph he never had a chance,” one person wrote. Another commenter emphasized the role of parenting, saying, “It starts at home that’s all imma say.” Someone else pointed to the teenager’s behavior in court, adding, “throwing signs up in a courtroom is crazy work.”

For many viewers, the issue extended beyond the teenager’s alleged offenses to the way his mother presented the situation online. Commenters questioned whether sharing the footage was appropriate, while others stressed that parents should teach their children accountability and help them understand the consequences of their actions.
