A woman in Arlington, Texas, got two guinea pigs from a pet store and was reassured they were both males. Imagine the woman’s surprise when, upon checking on them, she found out three more baby guinea pigs. The rodents had mated, and she had been lied to.
TikTok user tvmadeforyou shared the clip online. She usually posts lifestyle content related to her family, but her guinea pig clip stood out. It garnered a whopping 10.8 million views, 1.3 million likes, and 14,400 comments.
The Texas woman uncovered the guinea pigs’ cage and began to sweet-talk the rodents. Their names are Sheldon and Rocket, and, according to the woman’s caption, she believed they were both males. At least, that’s what the pet store had told her.
While she was playing with her pets, a third, smaller guinea pig suddenly appeared in the background. The woman, of course, was shocked, and suddenly two more guinea pigs emerged.
“Wait, where did y’all come from? Oh, shoot,” the woman said.
In a follow-up clip, the Texas woman once again showed all the guinea pigs in their cage. She was contemplating changing Sheldon’s name, given that he was actually a she from the very start. Meanwhile, the baby rodents are yet to be named.
“The plan now is to get rid of some of the babies,” she said, while also saying that Shelley is probably pregnant once again.
Guinea Pigs Conquer The Internet
The video sparked multiple responses.
One common misconception was that the baby guinea pigs looked grown. One viewer commented, “Those babies are BIG. No way you didn’t know, girl.” However, other users pointed out that guinea pigs are born grown, similar to other rodent toddlers. Another user wrote, “All of us learning that Guinea pigs are born with shoes and a job.”
Others were worried about space. One viewer said, “The cage is way too small!! Pets are a privilege, not a necessity.” The Texas woman, in response, shared her Cash App, allowing viewers to donate for a bigger cage.
Users seemed to agree that three baby guinea pigs appearing out of the blue was a huge twist. As a result, her clip was filled to the brim with reactions, including concerned pet owners and others unfamiliar with how guinea pigs are born.
The guinea pigs’ fate remains unclear. In the meantime, the Texas family has five little rodents to take care of.
