A person in Texas is revealing that they were hired to be a pet sitter for a professional athlete. While it may have been a great opportunity for their business, maybe even believing that a high-profile client could bring them other mainstream clients. Instead, the pet sitter ended up in a bit of a nightmare that left her without any of the money she was supposed to earn from the job, as well as a pet that she didn’t sign up for.
In a Reddit post, the Texas dog sitter revealed that she was hired by a professional basketball player to take care of his dog while he was out of town. She didn’t reveal the athlete’s name. However, she did reveal that he currently plays for a California-based team.
“For the past few months, Iโve been dog-sitting for a professional basketball player. At first, he was paying me, but he stopped about 3 months ago. Now he owes me roughly $5,000, and heโs completely ghosted me,” the post explains.

The dog sitter says that she’s “reached out multiple times” in hopes that he’ll pay her, pick up his dog, or at least offer some response. However, she’s been completely ignored. Sadly, the pet sitter says that she’s reaching a “breaking point” and is even considering taking the dog to the humane society so that it can be rehomed.
“Iโm in Texas, and I believe he currently plays for a California-based team. I have his full name, phone number, previous address, his agentโs name, and of course, the dog,” she added.
She then asked whether or not she could legally surrender or rehome the dog, and how she should go about trying to get the money that he owes her.
“So, pro players agent might want to know about thisโฆ they would not want their players image to be tarnished, find their agent and simply reach outโฆ. You would be surprised how quickly it could be resolved,” one person suggested in the comments.
“If the agent doesn’t respond, then call the teams PR dept and let them handle it.ย I would be shocked if this isn’t resolved on a couple of hours,” another person chimed in.
“But this guy probably wants endorsements. He gets a reputation as someone who just abandons dogs, thatโs not going to be good for his endorsements,” a third person pointed out.
“Threaten to call TMZ,” a fourth comment suggested.
The Texas dog sitter is currently staying quiet about the identity of her professional athlete client. However, the comments are already buzzing with possible names such as Luka Doncic and Jimmy Butler. Although nothing has been confirmed.
