One man truly believes in the phrase, “If you see something, say something.” When he was hanging out at a Texas café working his realtor job, he spotted something he didn’t like. A man was allegedly preying on women and trying to flirt with them without their consent. He decided to speak up and stand up for these women in a deeply protective way.
JJ (@jj_dfwrealtor) was working as a realtor at a Dallas, Texas café when he noticed something suspicious. The man next to him was allegedly flirting with the women in the café, unwarranted, when JJ finally intervened and started recording. You can hear him tell the man next to him, “Hey, you don’t mess with the girls.” He tells the man he saw him do it twice and said, “I’ll get you out of here if you mess with the girls again, okay?”
The flirting man starts to try and explain himself to JJ. However, JJ cuts him off by saying, “I don’t care. They’re not here looking at you. They want to come here and get coffee. You leave them alone.” The man tries to explain himself a second time. JJ then holds up a hand and says, “I don’t want no ifs, ands, or buts. You leave the girls alone.”
At this point, the man tries to explain himself a third time by telling JJ that he’s homeless, trying to justify why he’s making women uncomfortable in the café. He tells JJ he’s in the café to get out of the rain. As he’s explaining himself, JJ goes on, “I don’t care. Don’t wave at them, don’t look at them, don’t try to flirt with them.” It’s then that the man finally has enough of being told off by JJ. He gets up and leaves the café.
Women in the comments of JJ’s video showed their appreciation to a man who stands up for women. One woman commented her appreciation to JJ for taking a stand by saying, “I hope your coffee is always the perfect color and both sides of your pillow are always cool.” Another commenter questioned, “I’m homeless so I can do what I want?” One commenter added, “Thank you for speaking up and not staying silent when there’s an apparent issue toward women.”
Commenters continue to flood JJ’s post, expressing appreciation and gratitude toward him. The post has also sparked broader discussion about appropriate ways to approach people, both men and women alike.
