That’s exactly what happened recently on Desert Boulevard in El Paso, Texas, where a man later identified as Alfredo Marquez, a local stand-up comedian and customer service representative, picked a fight with a woman in the middle of traffic.
It’s unclear what exactly triggered his road rage, but a video recorded by @therealfitfamelpaso clearly shows the man losing control of his temper. According to witnesses, Marquez reportedly became furious after being cut off in traffic. He then confronted a woman driving an SUV, opened her car door, reached inside, and grabbed her phone before throwing it across the roadway as she stood there in disbelief. The shocking road rage moment quickly spread online, drawing thousands of views and comments.
Marquez didn’t stop there. The Texas man allegedly took cash from the woman’s purse after she stepped out of her vehicle to retrieve her phone. Several witnesses then moved to confront him, but Marquez tried to justify his actions by claiming the woman had hit his car, a claim that, according to video footage and witness accounts, didn’t appear to be true. The situation, fueled entirely by road rage, escalated to the point where onlookers feared it might turn violent.
The El Paso Police Department was alerted shortly after the confrontation, and officers have since received all available video evidence. The investigation remains ongoing, and charges are expected to follow.
Many internet users who saw the footage were stunned by the Texas man’s behavior. Getting cut off in traffic isn’t fun, but it’s certainly no excuse to throw someone’s phone across the road and steal their money. “Tiny guy’s anger issues,” one Reddit user joked.
Others, however, were more concerned about the bystanders who stood by and recorded instead of stepping in to help the woman. “To the men there, seriously, he just hit a woman and y’all just stood there recording? What happened to this world?” one person commented.
