A woman working at a spa in Katy, Texas, was in the middle of her shift and ready to attend to her regular daily tasks. While closing a glass door, however, she soon found herself in the midst of an impromptu glass shard storm. The door shattered in an instant, and the woman was left with a door handle she barely pulled on.
The surprising footage was shared online by The Modern Halo, the Katy-based luxury head spa in question. As expected, the spa’s content showcases its work, showing remarkable hairstyling and happy customers. That said, the clip attached above became its biggest clip to date. It garnered 2.5 million views, 274,900 likes, and more than 2,200 comments in a matter of days.
The 45-second clip starts with a regular day at the Texas spa, recorded by its security camera. One woman is sitting behind the front desk, while another is sitting in one of the chairs. A third woman enters the frame, ready to get on with business.
Relatable Shattering
The woman walked into the room separated by glass, and grabbed the door. Softly, she pulled on the door to close it. Moments later, the glass shattered violently, sending shards all over the floor. Meanwhile, the woman was still holding onto the handle. While many would freak out over the sudden glass shard shower, she decided to make herself an online phenomenon on the spot.
“Me when I pull the door and it shatters,” the woman said.
Definitely relatable, the woman even asked the other woman formerly sitting on the chair if she was okay. She responded, “Are YOU okay?” All the while, a fourth woman entered the frame and joined in on the shock, as everyone was still trying to figure out what had gone wrong.
Social Media Reactions
The video sparked many responses online, some of which reacted to the bizarre glass shattering. One said, “Type of [expletive] that happens your first time at someone’s house.” Another one commented, “I’ve never seen glass explode. How does this happen?“
Others, meanwhile, were completely enamoured by the woman’s reaction to the incident. One asked, “Why was her instinct to immediately make a relatable meme?” Another one wrote, “Making ‘me when’ jokes at the most inappropriate times is gonna be our generation’s defining characteristic.”
Thankfully, the Texas spa confirmed that no one was injured as a result of the sudden glass shatter. Only memes came out of it.
