Vaping may be considered less harmful than smoking cigarettes, but that doesn’t make it safe. It also doesn’t make it acceptable to vape near other people, especially children. Unfortunately, one Texas woman seemed to think otherwise as she openly vaped in a crowded area in Galveston. She appeared to be lining up for a ride at a theme park, puffing on her vape with no regard for those around her. In the background, a young boy could be seen standing nearby, visibly uncomfortable with the situation.
While most people around stayed silent, one man decided to speak up and told the woman to stop vaping. That clearly didn’t sit well with her. The woman became visibly annoyed, and the situation quickly escalated into a spat between the two. She didn’t appreciate being called out for her behavior and even went so far as to threaten the man, claiming she could beat him up because she had some training in martial arts.
Another man decided to intervene, shouting at her to calm down and take it easy. She didn’t appreciate his interference either and told him to shut up and mind his own business. But he refused to back down, telling her again to relax. That only seemed to enrage the Texas woman further, and she finally stormed toward him. What followed was a tense shoving match as the two exchanged heated words. At one point, the man told her she stank from all the vaping and demanded that she leave the area.
He then turned to someone off-camera, likely a theme park employee, and asked them to remove the woman for vaping. That’s when the situation took an unexpected turn. The Texas woman pulled the race card and accused the man of being racist for calling her out. She walked back to her spot closer to the front of the line but soon turned around again, continuing to throw accusations at him.
Her argument was that she was the only Black person around, and the fact that the man intervened, in her view, proved he was racist. A security guard eventually arrived, but instead of directly confronting the woman, he walked further toward the front, possibly to speak with an employee. Still, the sight of security seemed to trigger something, and the Texas woman abruptly left the scene. Visitors in the area exhaled in relief, not just from the tension, but because they no longer had to inhale her vape smoke.
Many Redditors who saw the Texas woman’s actions criticized her for her entitlement and audacity to vape in the middle of a crowd. Her attempt to frame the situation as a matter of racism only made her come across as even more unlikable, especially since it was clear she was in the wrong. One user commented, “Those poor children are terrified. Where is security?! Can someone remove her!”
