A Wisconsin woman went public with a message for her sister after what was supposed to be an overnight babysitting favor turned into two days of caring for her child. The creator says her sister stopped responding to calls and texts despite being active on social media, leaving her scrambling to figure out what to do next.

Update & Edit: Just so everyone knows she is is currently safe with family. I am her family. & proper departments have been contacted. This may not be the best way to go about it but I see you’re active on social media. I’ve had your kid for two days and you have given zero communication. She is crying for her mother. I don’t know what to do. #parentingtips #viral #fyp #babysitting #foryoupage

The video was posted to TikTok by Wisconsin creator @.hunter0327, who addresses her sister directly. “Mariah, if you see this, please come pick up your child,” she says. “She’s been here for two nights, and I only agreed to watch her for a few hours.”

The Wisconsin creator says that after the agreed-upon pickup time passed, her sister responded that something had come up and that she was on the way. Then the communication stopped.

Continuing to see her sister online only made the lack of communication more frustrating. “I know that you’re okay, because I can see that you’ve been active on social media,” she states.

She adds that she was also becoming concerned because the child had started asking where her mother was. “She’s wondering, like, where is her mom? When’s her mom coming? I don’t have any answers,” she says.

Before the clip ended, she acknowledged that the situation “may not be the best way to go about it.” She said, however, that she had the child for two days with “zero communication” from her mother.

Commenters Debate What Should Happen Next

The comment section quickly turned into a debate over whether the creator should involve authorities, with many arguing that keeping the situation within the family could allow the behavior to happen again. “If you do not contact the authorities, you, personally, are enabling this behavior to continue,” one commenter wrote.

Another warned that the situation could become even more serious if the mother left the child with someone else in the future. “Mariah will likely drop her child off with someone next time who is NOT a safe person and the repercussions of that could be LIFE CHANGING in the WORST WAY,” they wrote.

Others were even more direct. “That’s child abandonment! Should’ve called the cops,” one person commented, while another wrote, “You need to be calling authorities. Not posting it on TikTok.“

But some commenters pushed back against the calls to involve CPS, arguing that the mother could be struggling. “Wow….All the comments insensitive about calling CPS. Moriah is probably going through something and the last thing she needs is for CPS to take her kids. Give her some time!” one commenter wrote.

Another cautioned that involving authorities could result in the child being placed in foster care, claiming that could be much worse than the current situation.

Judging by the comments, there was little disagreement that the situation needed to be addressed. The bigger debate was over whether involving authorities would protect the child or create another set of problems.
