The $1 Game Pass deal was one of the things we loved most about the service. That was canceled in March, and a big advantage for first-time Xbox Game Pass users disappeared. After the price hikes caused numerous complaints, Xbox brought the beloved deal back. It is the same as it was before, but there’s a small catch you must be aware of. The $1 Game Pass deal could be less advantageous at the moment, but everybody has started talking about which console’s subscription service is more affordable. Xbox now has a plus with the discount offered to new subscribers.
The $1 Game Pass Deal Is Back for Ultimate and PC Plans
Back when it was first executed, the first month’s $1 charge was available on all the plans. There are three tiers of Game Pass and those are Ultimate, PC, and console. As you guessed, the Ultimate plan includes all the platforms. Xbox is making a change this time and removing the deal for the console tier. If you’re getting the subscription to play games on a console, you’ll have to get the Ultimate plan. That doesn’t sound bad, but the Ultimate tier is priced at $16.99 and the PC tier is $9.99.
Every discount on subscription services makes us wonder if those services are profitable for the company. Well, they are. The company’s 2021 reports revealed that the Game Pass is profitable: it’s 18 percent of Xbox’s revenue. The recent price increase turned people off a bit, but it’s unlikely the service will suffer much because the game library still contains a lot of AAA games that would cost a few hundred dollars if you buy separately. With the return of the special offer, gamers will probably calm down shortly.
