As with every season, the winter of 2025 brings a lot of new anime and several must-watch second seasons of very popular series. If you haven’t seen the first part of any of these anime, you still have time to binge-watch them and catch up just before their premiere. Some anime will arrive at the end of 2024, and others are ready for the first days of the new year, but these are the season’s must-watch.
Fate/strange Fake (December 31)
We start this season at full power with the beginning of another spin-off of the Fate saga. If you are thinking about Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- this is a special or an OVA. However, this Fate/strange Fake is a serialized anime. Here, an external organization gathered information from the previous Holy Grail Wars in Fuyuki City. The difference is that by this same organization, the Third War and its participants will be in the USA, not Japan.
Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective (January 2)
If you are a fan of series like Chicago MED or, more specifically, House M.D., you can get the medical anomalies and humor of the anime with Ameku. Dr. Takao Ameku is considered a genius and the head of the department in charge of discovering the strangest illnesses of the most unexpected patients, including crime suspects. Undoubtedly, Ameku and her team will know how to deal with an unusual condition.
Zenshu (January 5)
A new anime that focuses more on the daily life of an animator. The protagonist is an eminent storyboarder and animator who can create any possible story you can think of. However, our talented animator has a great weakness, romance stories, so she will have to polish her skills to make at least decent love scenes or die trying.
From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated! (January 10)
Kenzaboro is a 52-year-old man who works as a public server. One day, he is hit by a truck and wakes up as Grace, the villain from another world. Although this anime seems to have all the clichés, Kenzaboro is familiar with the Isekai but not with Otome games or dating games. This anime is a must-watch for this winter 2025 season because the plot twist is that Kenzaboro is not dead and could return to his world, maybe with the help of his daughters.
Sakamoto Days (January 11)
If you wonder what happens to mercenaries who survive long enough to retire, this anime is for you. The plot basically explains what would have happened if John Wick had not come out of retirement and had a family with his wife. Here, the main character, Tarō Sakamoto, for love, left the underworld to be with his wife and better have a convenience store. Still, even if Skamoto is an old man, I wouldn’t dare to steal any products from him.
I May Be a Guild Receptionist, But I’ll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time (January 11)
Have you ever considered how difficult life is for Luna from KONOSUBA or Katherine from Genshin Impact? Well, Alina thought she could lead a quiet life as a receptionist in the local adventurer’s guild. However, she didn’t count on paperwork, unpaid overtime, and customer service being the worst of her job. Besides, it means more work for her if the adventurers don’t finish the dungeon bosses quickly. With no other alternative, Alina uses her hammer to finish off the monsters and take all the stress out of working against them.
The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You (January 12)
This anime from the winter 2025 season is a must-watch if you have already seen the first season and if you love harem stories. Yet, this harem stands out because Rentaro, besides being destined to have 100 girlfriends, really strives to make each of them happy and give them time. Rentaro also makes sure that there is consent for each new girlfriend he adds to the group.
My Happy Marriage (January 6)
After Kiyoka dealt with Miyo’s family during the first season, now it’s Miyo’s turn to meet her fiancé’s family. Although if you think Kiyoka is very distant and solemn, his mother is exactly why he is like that. For this second season, Miyo, trying to win his mother-in-law’s affection, will return to her days as the Cinderella of her fiance’s family home. Let’s hope that this visit to the Kudō house is not what separates this couple.
The Apothecary Diaries (January 10)
Maomao returns with Jinshi to solve the most chilling mysteries inside the palace. However, both of them must face the arrival of the new concubine and the internal changes between the concubines. Also, Maomao still has her personal challenge against the elusive Suirei, who managed to fake her own death to escape. If you are looking for intrigue, mystery, and drama in a historical style, this anime is another must-watch anime in winter 2025.
Solo Leveling (January 2025)
Solo Leveling is a popular South Korean web novel, so the announcement of its adaptation brought a lot of excitement to the fans. Although, in general, those who read the web novel were disappointed with the animation and story, it is actually fascinating and action-packed. Also, at the end of the first season, they discover Sung Jin-woo’s true power, and there are more portals about to open, and the best hunters are about to arrive. So this second part will have a lot of drama and fights.
