Throughout Link’s journey in Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, he will encounter many sights, smells, and tastes during his adventure. Getting good meals and healing in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is just part of the fun. Whether you’ve just roasted some apples or have prepared a thick steak fit for the aftermath of battle, plenty of best food recipes for healing can aid your adventure. Meals restore hearts, and some are better at it than others. If you’d like to get a leg up on your recipe game, we have a list of food items that can help.

Veggie Rice Balls

Veggie Rice Balls is one of the best food recipes for healing in Tears of the Kingdom. You can actually score some of these at the beginning of the story. While making your way through the caves underneath Hyrule Castle, where the Gloom spreads, you can receive some of these rice balls from an NPC shortly after the beginning of the game.

Rice balls of all kinds are important because, depending on what you put in them, you can have different buffs. For example, regular Veggie Rice Balls are easy to make and heal four hearts. However, Sunny Rice Balls are almost as easy to make, but they also provide a defense against Gloom and can aid in healing from it. To make Veggie Rice Balls, gather some Hylian Rice and mix it with any veggie you can find out in the wild.

Fish Skewer

When it comes to reliably coming up with food for your travels and battles, little can be more convenient than the Fish Skewer. All it requires is a few sea creatures, and you have a meal that heals you for just two hearts. While this isn’t much, it can be a godsend at the beginning of the game, up to the middle even. The best food recipes for healing are easy to make, find, and use during any portion of the game.

Since these bad boys are so easy to make, Fish Skewers can be incredibly handy in great numbers. If you’re keen on exploring the Depths, simply gather some glowing fish to make a Bright Fish Skewer. That way, you’ll have both a healing item and something to illuminate the darkness.

Spicy Pepper Steak

The Spicy Pepper Steak is one of the best food recipes for healing in Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Because it straddles the two points of being available for all players and healing a significant amount of hearts, the Pepper Steak is a great item to have around no matter what you’re doing. One of the main ingredients for the Spicy Pepper Steak is, as you might have guessed, a Spicy Pepper.

Healing in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is an important priority. However, keep in mind that food can handle more than one priority at a time. On their own, Spicy Peppers are great ingredients for Cold Resistance, which you’ll need for navigating frigid climates. Once you combine some meat and Spicy Peppers, you’ll get your Spicy Pepper Steak, which acts as a double threat. On the one hand, it restores an earnest three hearts. On the other, it provides Cold Resistance for three minutes. For something so easy to make, the tradeoff is very convenient.
