Our prayers have been answered. After months of waiting, the Lightning element finally got its first Hunt character in the shape of the stealthy Moze. While Moze appeared during 2.4’s story, his actual debut as a playable character arrived in Version 2.5. As a 4-star character, many might be lucky enough to have him, and adding him to their team would be in everyone’s best interest. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the best build for Moze in Honkai: Star Rail.
Moze’s Gameplay Style Explained
From what we’ve seen in the official trailers, Moze will go down the FUA (follow-up attack) road, which means his build in HSR should be familiar to those who have Topaz, Dr. Ratio, and other characters with this playstyle. The main gimmick of this character is the “Prey” mechanic. After using his skill, he can mark a target with the Prey debuff and gain nine charges. After allies attack the Prey, Moza will perform a follow-up attack after the team consumes charges. The loop consists of Moza applying “Prey” to an enemy, letting others attack it, and waiting for Moza to do a FUA. With that in mind, let’s start building this assassin.
Best Light Cones
Since Moze belongs to the Path of the Hunt and leans towards a FUA playstyle, the best Light Cone for his build in Honkai: Star Rail is Worrisome, Blissful, which is Topaz’s LC. However, there are a few other alternatives for him, too. Here are the ones we recommend:
Light Cone | Explanation |
---|---|
Worrisome, Blissful (Best/5-Star) | The Crit DMG buff for follow-up attacks is enormous. If you are running FUA characters, this is a must-have Light Cone. Assuming you have many copies of this LC, give them away to your follow-up attackers. |
Cruising in the Stellar Sea (Good Alternative without a lot of FUA focus/5-star/Simulated Universe) | Not a bad Light Cone, especially due to its accessibility. It increases damage after enemies reach a certain HP percentage, which is great since Moze will focus on one enemy at a time. |
Swordplay (Cheapest Best Alternative/4-Star) | The best and cheapest alternative of the bunch. The more times Moze attacks one enemy, the better the DMG increases, and due to his playstyle, he benefits a lot from it. |
Best Relics & Stat Priority
After looking at some of the relic sets in Honkai: Star Rail, there are two paths Moze can take, which we’ll delve into for his build. If you want to get his CRIT Rate up, you can go for the Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters. This one is useful if you don’t have a lot of FUA characters. However, if you have a good follow-up attack team, your best option is The Ashblazing Grand Duke. This is a must-have for characters who fall under this type of playstyle, but it will work even better if you have a full FUA team. Lastly, Moze will benefit from the Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves Planar Ornament due to Merit stacks, which increase the damage of follow-up attacks. Below are the stats you need for each piece:
Relic/Ornament | |
---|---|
Body Piece | CRIT DMG/CRIT Rate – Pick the one’s the lowest for Moze. |
Feet Piece | ATK – Many will recommend SPD over ATK, but Moze can already act faster due to his skills, so SPD shouldn’t be a priority. |
Planar Sphere | Lightning Damage – The best stat you can get to increase Moze’s DMG. |
Link Rope | ATK – Same as with the feet piece; the more attack, the better. |
Team Composition
A proper build in HSR wouldn’t be one without a recommendation for proper team composition, and Moze has a few party members who work well with him. Again, we’ll be focusing on FUA team since they are the best for Moze, but if there are other options out there, we’ll also list them here.
Team | Sustain/Tank/Healer | Support | DPS or Second Support |
---|---|---|---|
FUA Premium Team | Aventurine | Robin | Feixiao |
F2P Team | Lynx | Yukong | March 7th (Imaginary) |
The best option is the FUA premium team, without question. It will take a lot to build, but it is worth it. You could swap Feixao for Topaz if you don’t have her; either will work. Robin is a must-have for these teams; without her, your DPS will suffer a bit. Lastly, Aventurine is there to provide shields and extra follow-up attacks.
If you want to go down the cheaper road, you can get March 7th in her Imaginary element, as she also performs FUAs and is an excellent character in most tier lists. Yukong is there to provide an ATK increase, and Lynx is there to heal everyone. It’s not a bad team, but when possible, start swapping members for premium ones.
Closing Tips
Before we wrap up this build for Moze in HSR, let’s go over some final tips, rotation, and gear.
- Whenever you use Moze’s skill on a target, make sure all other party members focus on that enemy as well, especially to trigger Moze’s talent.
- Don’t bother with SPD increases for Moze, especially because he will constantly attack when his talent is triggered. Also, don’t spam the skill; wait until the charges are depleted.
- Moze should never be your main DPS. He’s a sub-DPS in any team composition.
- You can swamp between relic sets if you want, but The Ashblazing Grand Duke set is the best in most scenarios.
- If you try to use Moze without other FUA characters, your DPS potential will diminish considerably.
Ultimately, Moze is a fantastic character, and even with his 4-star rarity, he can dish out a lot of damage and enhance FUA teams. However, building a good team for him will be the real challenge, so make sure to have some premium characters or be ready to spend some currency to make the ultimate composition.
