There are few things more intimidating when loading into Dead by Daylight than hearing Huntress’s lullaby. Whether you’re a veteran player or are picking up a hatchet for the first time, it’s always worth thinking about her builds. Though Anna is slow, she makes up for her lack of speed with devastating ranged attacks thanks to her throwing hatchets. Practice enough and in no time you’ll be making Behaviour proud by sniping survivors across the map. Your playstyle has a role in determining what’s the best build in Dead by Daylight, but you can’t go wrong with these Huntress picks.
Best Dead by Daylight Huntress Builds
(Updated on November 8, 2024 – updated builds, links, and format)
The Huntress entered the game with Chapter 5: A Lullaby for the Dark. She is a towering and intimidating Killer with a 110% movement speed, 20m Terror Radius, and 45m lullaby that gives away her position. Because she relies on your mechanical skill to land shots, she’s not one of the easiest killers to learn if you lack FPS experience. Run out of hatchets and you’ll need to reload at a locker. Her unique perks Beast of Prey, Territorial Imperative, and Hex: Huntress Lullaby aren’t very good, unfortunately. If you want to use the best Huntress build you can, you’ll need to turn to Common and Teachable perks.
Best Basic Build for The Huntress
You don’t have to buy every character to put together a great build. This is one of the best Huntress builds in Dead by Daylight despite requiring access to only basic characters. You can always tweak it later on if you get access to more characters, but for a minimalist who wants to do well with as little as possible, it’s a strong start. Here are the perks you’ll need:
- Bitter Murmur (General): When a generator is completed, you will see the auras of all survivors within 16 meters of it for 5 seconds.
- Agitation (The Trapper): When carrying a survivor you increase your movement speed by 18% and increase your Terror Radius by 12m.
- Hex: Huntress Lullaby (The Huntress): Hooking survivors reduces and finally eliminates the Skill Check warning for repairing generators and healing.
- A Nurse’s Calling (The Nurse): The auras of all survivors who are healing or being healed are revealed to you when they are within a range of 28m.
This build focuses on tracking survivors down and minimizing the downtime between chases by increasing your carrying speed. Bitter Murmur allows for cross-map hatchet snipes once you grow more experienced, and A Nurse’s Calling is excellent for taking down already injured and vulnerable survivors. With only Huntress Lullaby to stall gens, you’ll have your work cut out for you, but this is a great way to get started as a new player.
Best Slowdown Build
If you have access to all of the killers in Dead by Daylight, you can put together even more cunning and deadly builds. Your playstyle is a major factor in picking what works for you, but the following is a powerful stalling build designed to slow generator progress to crawl. No one’s getting out through those gates if they never get powered.
- Corrupt Intervention (The Plague): At the start of the Trial, the three generators farthest from you become blocked for 120 seconds or until a survivor enters the dying state.
- Deadlock (The Cenobite): When a generator is completed, the generator with the highest progress is blocked for 25 seconds.
- Grim Embrace (The Artist): Hooking a unique survivor temporarily blocks all generators once you move far enough away from the hook.
- No Way Out (The Trickster): When a survivor interacts with an exit gate switch for the first time, the switches become blocked temporarily.
Corrupt Intervention prevents survivors from hopping on generators too quickly, giving you time to build pressure before a gen can pop. Deadlock and Grim Embrace both further delay survivor progress by blocking gens, giving you as much time as you need to chase down your prey. No Way Out doubles-down on the punishing delays by blocking the exit switches, meaning a tense end-game for survivors now trapped in the Trial with The Huntress.
Aggressive Chase Build
If you’re looking for a dependable off-meta option, you can use this build instead. It focuses on getting you into chases, helping you land unexpected shots, and regressing generators with occasional Pops.
- Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis): At the start of the Trial, you see the Auras of all survivors for 9 seconds. Extends other Aura reveals by 2 seconds.
- I’m All Ears (The Ghost Face): When a survivor within 48m of you performs a Rushed Vault, they reveal their Aura to you for 6 seconds.
- Nowhere to Hide (The Knight): Kicking a generator reveals the Auras of nearby survivors.
- Pop Goes the Weasel (The Clown): The first generator you kick after hooking a survivor will explode and lose much of its progress.
This build ensures you’ll always know where to take the hunt. Aggressive Aura-reading perks shorten the time between downs, letting you spend more time chasing and less time trying to find survivors. Just beware of Huntress’s slow movement, which can make it tough to get optimal value out of Pop Goes the Weasel. Like Chucky and other 110%-speed killers, positioning is often everything. Make sure your lullaby is the last thing they hear.
