Diablo 4 Sorcerers might have a skill literally called ‘Glass Cannon’ but we all know that the Rogue plays it riskier when it comes to being a ‘glass’ and to a certain extent, being a ‘cannon.’ While the Rogue has seen better days, it’s still one of the top-tier builds out there against bosses. You just have to look deeper. I’m here so you don’t need to look too hard; I recommend following the best endgame Rogue build for Diablo 4 Season 4.

Diablo 4 Endgame Rogue Build – Heartseeker Rogue

[Updated June 14, 2024 – Revised the guide to focus on an endgame Rogue build for Season 4]

The Heartseeker Rogue relies only on the Basic Skill, Heartseeker. There’s no fiddling around with Core Skills and thus, no Resource bottleneck. This is your best bet as a Rogue in Diablo 4 Season 4. Rapid Fire is too expensive and relies too much on a unique item.

It’s great for both bosses and Pit pushing, which means you don’t need to keep switching classes for one or the other.

Sadly, the old Twisted Blades and other melee Rogue builds were more or less wrecked by Season 4’s balance changes. You have to go full-on ranged Rogue if you want the best that Season 4 has to offer.

We’ll start with the skill tree.

Victimize1/1

This is also known as the Victimize Heartseeker Rogue since it takes advantage of the final passive, Victimize. Thus, you need to boost your Lucky Hit either through items or Aspects and other factors. Additionally, make sure to pick the Inner Sight Specialization.

This is what your skill bar should look like:

  • Poison Trap
  • Smoke Grenade
  • Caltrops
  • Dash
  • Shadow Step
  • Heartseeker

It’s up to you where to place those depending on your comfort. Do keep in mind that Heartseeker is your main source of damage.

For your Paragon board and Rare Glyphs, pick these:

  • Starting Board (Control Glyph)
  • Exploit Weakness (Pride Glyph)
  • No Witness (Chip Glyph)
  • Cheap Shot (Ranger Glyph)
  • Deadly Ambush (Exploit Glyph)
  • Leyrana’s Instinct (Ambush Glyph)

I also mentioned that this build is cheaper and more accessible than Rapid Fire. The gear isn’t as absurd and you certainly don’t need a special ring or a Harlequin Crest (though that ought to help). Speaking of which…

For gear, you don’t need any specific unique. You just need all your items to be Legendary Ancestral though I imagine the Greater Affixes will dictate how useful they will be or how far you can push The Pits.

It’s thus more important to focus on what you can control, such as the Aspects. These Aspects will reward you more for your effort compared to hunting for Greater Affixes.

For damage, since you’ll just be using Basic Skills most of the time, it’s good to focus on anything that boosts Basic Skill attack speed or increased damage.

As for Gems, you want the following, ideally in the highest tier:

The Gems for your rings and amulet depend on what Resistances you’re missing or have yet to max out (70 percent).

Stats to Look For in Gearing This Rogue Build

As for your gear, make sure to prioritize the following stats regardless of whether you are hunting for Greater Affixes, Masterworking, or Tempering.

-Dexterity
-Lucky Hit Chance
-Total Armor (Defensive)
-Lucky Hit: Stun (Utility)

Boots-Attacks Reduce Evade Cooldown

-Agility Cooldown (Resource)
Weapons-Dexterity

-Max Life

-Caltrops Size (Weapons)

This is where you’ll be spending your time for most of the build as there are times you might brick your perfectly-rolled items thanks to Tempering. However, the Tempering stat requirements aren’t really that rigid apart from the Heartseeker and Caltrops stats.

Feel free to use placeholders until you can find the perfectly rolled items or until you get lucky with Tempering and Greater Affixes.

How to Play the Heartseeker Buiild in Diablo 4

It’s a simple affair and you don’t need to pull your hair out managing your Resource orb. Follow this step-by-step rotation for the Heartseeker Rogue:

  1. Make sure you have Dark Shroud active.
  2. Place a Poison Trap on a boss or enemy cluster.
  3. Cast Caltrops on them afterward.
  4. Then cast a Smoke Grenade on the enemies.
  5. Shoot them Heartseeker.
  6. If you’re in trouble, either use Dash or Evade out of the way.
  7. Repeat steps 1 to 5.

You can also just attack straight away with Heartseeker for smaller packs while only using Poison Trap or Caltrops to soften them up. You might want to reserve Smoke Grenade for bosses or large packs since it has a longer cooldown.

Diablo 4 is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
