Hardener is an essential material in The First Descendant necessary to craft weapons and Descendants — especially if you want to add Ultimate Bunny and Ultimate Gley to your playable characters roster. However, it only drops on a specific map and cannot be farmed in missions, making collecting them somewhat confusing.
Hardener crafting materials can only be found in Resource Boxes and Munitions all over Vespers. But, the former gives less drop than the latter; if you get 30 Hardeners from a Resource Box, a Munition can give you 120.
Because of that, you will want to maximize your Hardener farming time in The First Descendant with our best routes below. Best of all, these routes can be done with both Normal and Hard difficulties, so you can farm them while farming for other stuff. You’ll also get Semi-permanent Plasma from opening Vespers boxes along with Hardener.
The Lumber Yard Hardener Route
In the middle one, you should find 2 Munitions. There is also one spot with 1 Munitions and 2 Resource Boxes. Keep in mind that turning on the Ecive scan will show you the closest Munitions locations but not for the Resources Boxes.
The Ruins Hardener Farm Route
There are five Munitions inside the ruins near the Outpost spawn point. Some Resource Boxes are also scattered in the wooden building ruins in the middle of the area.
Timberfall Hardener Route
The one southwest of the Supply Depot Mission gives 1 Munition and 2 Resource Boxes along with an Echo. However, for some reason, interacting with the Echo makes us unable to interact with Munitions in this area. For that reason, you might want to get it after you’ve done farming the Hardeners. There is also a Munition and a Resource Box close to the Tactical Transporter to the north of the area.
Lost Supply Depot Hardener Farm Route
Not far from the Munition to the left of Outpost spawn, there is also a Surveillance Tower. There are a lot of them scattered around the Vulgus Strategic Outpost as well.
Moonlight Lake Hardener Farm Route
Munitions and Resource Boxes respawn pretty fast, so once you reach the end of the route, you should be able to restart quickly.
