The Blood of Dawnwalker took the Assassin’s Creed approach when it comes to open-world exploration; you have to climb towers and soak in the sights to reveal the points of interest on your map. Luckily, it’s a less painstaking process since you’re a vampire, not just an assassin. So, before you walk in search of blood before dawn comes, we’re going to teach you how to scout first.
Climbing Scouting Towers Fast and Stress-Free

First and foremost, and in case you missed the in-game tutorial, you can only access Scout Towers at night. They appear on the map as house or tower icons with an accompanying moon icon, indicating that you can only climb them at night when your vampire powers kick in. However, that doesn’t stop you from visiting these towers during the daytime; they’ll simply be impossible to climb.
The good news is that climbing Scouting Towers and scouting doesn’t consume your time resource. So you can basically clear all of them in a single night without worrying about your family. To climb them fast, consider these tips:
- Try to keep out of sight of the guards when using your vampire powers
- Upgrade your Shadowstep skill as much as you can to increase its distance
- Use potions or food that increase stamina regeneration
- Don’t be afraid to walk on walls, just be careful not to run out of stamina, or you’ll fall
- If you accidentally Shadowstep vertically, don’t move so your stamina doesn’t drain, and just Shadowstep again to a safer platform
In any case, climbing Scouting Towers can be as easy as Shadowstepping on platforms. Once you’re close to the top, you don’t exactly need to go all the way. The icon to “Scout the area” will appear, and you can just press that button to automatically bring Coen to the top of the tower.
To scout, make sure to “investigate” all points of interest on the horizon. Once you’ve done that, they will appear on the map for easier exploration. Scouting will also show all the nearby Scouting Towers you haven’t discovered yet.
Getting Down

You’re probably wondering where the haystack is located for a quick improvised exit. Well, there’s none. You’re not a Ubisoft assassin, sadly. However, fall damage still exists even though you’re a vampire, so don’t jump off a tower. For a quick and safe way down, follow these instructions:
- Walk to the edge of the tower, look down to check if there’s a safe and uninterrupted way to the bottom
- If it looks safe, use the Clawride ability and keep holding it until you’re all the way down
- Alternatively, you can backtrack down the tower by Shadowstepping, but that’s slower
- Try to avoid Clawriding or Shadowstepping right onto a squad of guards on your way down
Rinse and repeat, and have fun exploring afterward.
