There are tons of currencies and materials you need to know and learn in Nexon’s sci-fi looter shooter. Some of them can be easily tracked via the quite detailed Consumables in-game menu, but some can be a bit vague. Take these Code Analyzers as an example; they are dropped in all 7 areas, but where exactly can you find them? Turns out, amassing Code Analyzers in The First Descendant isn’t hard, just time-consuming– like a lot of other stuff in this game.
Where Can You Get Code Analyzers? Explained
Code Analyzers are rare drops from common enemies that come in 3 flavors: Code, Precision, and Ultra-Precision. You can just run around the map and shoot any Vulgus that comes into your sight to collect them. But all things considered, you’d want to run Extermination Missions for farming the item instead.
The First Descendant community agrees that the “Anticipated Ambush Point,” not far from Rockfall Outpost in Sterile Land, is the best for farming Code Analyzers. Other missions that throw in waves on enemies work just fine, but this one is so simple it’s even extremely farmable on Hard difficulty. All you have to do is play as Bunny and run around nuking enemies for 1 minute and 10 seconds or so.
We found 2 Precision Codes after completing the mission 5 times in a row– that’s around 20 Codes per 60 minutes. Sure, they aren’t guaranteed drops but it beats running through long-winded dungeons or defending checkpoints and getting barraged from all sides.
Considering how easy the mission is, this is also a decent way to farm Kuiper Shards, Gold, and other rare loots dropped by random mobs. Such as Artificial Biometal, Negative Ion Particle, and various Modules.
How to Use Code Analyzers and Reap the Rewards
Code Analyzers are used to open Encrypted Vaults, humanoid treasure chests hidden all over The First Descendant maps. Just like the Codes, there are 3 types of Vaults as well:
- Code Encrypted Vaults.
- Precision Code Encrypted Vaults.
- Ultra-Precision Code Encrypted Vaults.
To locate them, first, you need to find a lamp-like holographic square on the ground. Then activate your Ecive by pressing the Tab key or the Right Stick and following the holographic symbol’s direction on top of your Descendant’s head. You can also hear some “pings” when activating the Ecive scanner which indicates its location.
Different Encrypted Vaults in different areas will drop different materials as well. For example, the Precision Vault we found near the Classified Area Outpost of Sterile Land drops Negative Ion Particle. Meanwhile, an Ultra Vault in Echo Swamp opened with Code Analyzers might reward you with Enzo’s Descendant-exclusive Reinforce Front Line Module.
Use Code Analyzers on Encrypted Vaults and clear a “code-cracking” minigame to get the loot. You must stop the rotating red needle on the target area by pressing the Left/Right Mouse Click or a controller’s Trigger buttons.
Depending on the type of Encrypted Vault you’re trying to open, the minigame can be quite tough. To make things worse, fail the The First Descendant minigame and you’ll lose the Code Analyzers too!
Interestingly, if you find it hard to unlock the Vaults, you’d want to play the minigame while using Enzo. As it turns out, his Shoot Support passive ability makes the puzzle much easier, giving you bigger targets and a longer time.
But that’s not all: another trick for farming the Encrypted Vault materials is by opening one with fellow Descendants. The dropped loot won’t instantly disappear once someone picks it up– anyone nearby can also take it.
With that in mind, you and your friends would want to open a Vault in a rotation. That way, you can quadruple the amount of rare The First Descendant loots and save your precious Code Analyzers. You can share the prize with a stranger too, as we experienced when writing this guide. Thank you, kind random Enzo player!
The First Descendant is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
