The Flash premiered in the Cinemas on June 14, with Sasha Calle’s Supergirl debuting in the DCU franchise. The actress steps into the role of the girl from Krypton. After landing her dream role as Supergirl, Sasha Calle hopes to reprise the role for other DC Universe projects. Calle is specifically hoping to land the lead role in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow movie, which is being adapted for the big screen.
Sasha Calle Hopes To Land A Role In Her Own Supergirl Movie
Calle plays Supergirl in The Flash. Although the character does not take a major role in the movie, she sees it as the start of her Supergirl adventure. She hopes to reprise the role in an upcoming film of her own, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is being adapted from the DC comics to the big screen.
Calle did not outrightly state whether she has had any official discussions about the role. However, in a recent EW interview, she clarified that she was eager to take the part.
“I hope to continue playing Supergirl. I love her deeply! And I think [The Flash] is a runway to a bigger story for her. We don’t really get to experience a lot. I feel like this is a runway to a bigger story. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, by Tom King, is an incredible comic. I love it. I think it’s so cool. So yeah, I would hope to continue. I hope to continue playing Supergirl for sure.”
What We Know About the Upcoming Movie ‘Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow’
Earlier in January, James Gunn, who is now leading DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, announced that there are plans to adapt Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow into a movie. The comic series, which kicked off in 2022, was written by King and Bilquis Evely. The film is one of the five announced for what Gunn named Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. It is the first of multiple planned phases of interconnected movies and Tv shows.
According to Gunn, the movie will be a “big science-fiction epic film.” Unlike Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents, Supergirl was raised on a chunk of Krypton. She is a more jaded character, having watched everyone she knew die in a terrible way.
Is Sasha Calle’s Supergirl a good for the role?
Although it is not exactly sure who the next Supergirl will be, some indicators point in Calle’s direction since she is the last person to embody the role. While there is no release date for the film yet, Gunn previously said, “We’ll have a Superman com[ing] out. And then two years later, we have Supergirl coming out.”
With Superman: Legacy slated for July 11, 2025, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will likely be released sometime in 2027. It is safe to say that Calle’s version of the superheroine carries a new perspective as opposed to the staple supergirl storyline. In The Flash, she takes up the primary role of Superman, with a different storyline regarding how she came to Earth.
Her plot in The Flash saw her being discovered by the government as a child. Unlike Kal-El, who was found by a family, Kara was found by the government and put through painful experiments. This storyline could be further explored in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
