The Game Awards are right around the corner, so this news is sure to create some anticipation leading up to the event. With Sony not attending E3 2019, there’s a good chance that the platform will look to make its mark here with a few announcements and reveals. The same can be said for Microsoft. The company is attending E3 next year but over the past few months, Microsoft has acquired the services of quite a few well-respected developing teams. Obsidian Entertainment, the team behind the acclaimed Fallout: New Vegas, is the most recent addition for Microsoft in their attempt to create more AAA quality exclusive titles.
It’ll be interesting to see if these two platforms make their mark on The Game Awards this year.
A few weeks ago, a full list of nominees for The Game Awards was announced from Best eSports categories to the highly-coveted Game of the Year.
While Monster Hunter: World, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and Celeste are fantastic games, they aren’t the clear front-runners in many gamers’ minds. God of War amazed PlayStation players around the world with its down-to-earth storytelling and fresh gameplay. Acting as a rebirth for the franchise, God of War received perfect scores across many gaming sites.
The next front-runner for Game of the Year has to be the Insomniac-led Marvel’s Spider-Man. This game, like every other title that landed on the nominee list this year, garnered amazing reviews. The praises from these reviewers echo essentially the same sentiments, giving credit to the heart of the game’s story and the exhilarating gameplay.
Finally, we have Red Dead Redemption 2. The extreme attention to detail, stunning visuals, and cinematic storytelling propelled Rockstar’s latest title to make a push for Game of the Year. Regardless, every one of the games nominated above is worthy of winning the award this year, making The Game Awards a must watch next week.
The Game Awards will happen December 6th, 2018 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
