Fans of The Haunting of Hill House have been eagerly waiting for another horrific story full of emotion, scared and well-written storytelling. They won’t have to wait much longer! Along with a short teaser trailer, Netflix has announced that The Haunting of Bly Manor will release this October.
While the first season took its inspiration from Shirley Jackson’s novella, The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor takes it inspiration from the works of Henry James; Bly Manor is the setting of one of his most popular works, The Turn of the Screw. Here is the synopsis from Netflix:
From The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan and producer Trevor Macy comes The Haunting of Bly Manor, the next highly anticipated chapter of The Haunting anthology series, set in 1980s England. After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) hires a young American nanny (Victoria Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Amelie Bea Smith, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) who reside at Bly Manor with the estate’s chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (T’Nia Miller). But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn’t mean gone.
Much like American Horror Story, Netflix’s horror phenomenon tells different stories with each season while showcasing some familiar faces. Victoria Pedretti, Henry Thomas and others will be returning for the newest season.
The Haunting of Bly Manor will be available in full on October 9, 2020 on Netflix. If you need to catch up, the first season, inspired by Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House, is available on the streaming service for a spooky binge fest!
