Deadpool and Nick Fury are going to be in a buddy cop movie together, sort of. Earlier this week Lionsgate movies released the restricted teaser trailer for their upcoming film The Hitman’s Bodyguard.

While the film’s title might seem like it’s a recipe for disaster, it’s lead actors say otherwise. The Hitman’s Bodyguard will see Samuel L. Jackson play the role of the world’s greatest Hitman (Sorry Agent 47) who finds himself unwillingly given a bodyguard, played by Ryan Reynolds.

As the title suggest, the teaser depicts Jackson as a foul-mouthed badass and Ryan Reynolds is his wisecracking sidekick, roles that are par the course for the two. At this point, Jackson and Reynolds feel less like typecast actors and more like actors who have roles created with them in mind, based on their given personality.

The teaser shows this off for both stars, with the Hitman shouting “Mother Fucker” – a term synonymous with Samuel L. Jackson – and the Bodyguard pointing out how he has ruined said term due to overuse – using fourth wall breaking best known by Deadpool.

Jackson’s role as the Hitman in the teaser feel reminiscent of  his role as aim for the bushes character P. K. Highsmith in the Other Guys

The Hitman’s Bodyguard will see Jackson and Reynolds teaming up for the first time ever in live action, as the two did do voiceovers for the same animated film Turbo in 2013. They will be joined by a star-studded cast made up of Gary Oldman, and Salma Hayek, Elodie Yung, Joaquim De Almeida, Kirsty Mitchell, with Richard E. Grant.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard will be released worldwide on August 18, directed by Patrick Hughes. For more information on the upcoming foul-mouthed action flick, be sure to stay tuned to the site for updates, as well as all of your Nerdy News!
