When we first saw the official Games with Gold July 2020 list we were shocked. When did it become June and how are we so close to July? This might sound like a joke to some but for many, this is a reality. With the global pandemic, COVID-19, still ravaging the world, many in the United States and various parts of the world have lost all sense of time. Despite the PS5 press conference and the release of The Last of Us 2 and Sponge Bob Square Pants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, June has been rather uneventful. This is why July 2020’s Games with Gold offering comes as a surprise.
The July 2020 Games with Gold offer brings back an old friend while introducing us to some new ones. In the late 2000s, The Saints Row franchise was considered a worthy competitor to the Grand Theft Auto franchise. In 2008, Grand Theft Auto 4 and Saints Row 2 released. This would be the last time the two would be considered rivals. In 2013, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Saints Row IV would release less than a month apart but by then the Saints Row series had started to decline. So why are we discussing the history of Saints Row? Because Saints Row 2 is one of the four July 2020 Games with Gold titles!
On July 1st, Xbox Live Gold members will have the opportunity to download Saints Row 2 and WRC 8 for free. WRC 8 will be free until July 31st while Saints Row 2 is free until July 16th. Then on July 16th, Dunk Lords and Juju will be free to Gold members. Dunk Lords is free to gold members until August 16th while Juju is only free until August 1st.
