The June PS Plus lineup sees the “Return of the Mack“ as Sony rises back from the garbage pile they found May’s negatively received Plus titles.
This month’s games come out guns blazing as Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and Call of Duty: WW2 are added to the list. Although the CoD title released early, Battlefront 2 isn’t available for free download until June 2nd.
Last month’s line featured Farming Simulator 18 and Cities: Skylines, the games that Santa gives to naughty kids. After weeks of users threatening membership cancelation, PlayStation reacted by dropping June Plus early. Although, it could have also been planned as they did the same thing with Black Ops 3 a few years back (weirdly enough in June too.)
June PS Plus: Two Sides of The Same Coin
Battlefront 2 was at the center of controversy or it’s loot box mechanics. The game became such a hot topic that even members of the U.S congress got involved regarding its mechanics and affect on children.
The game eventually removed the loot boxes from the game via update and added free content over the last two years. This is after EA’s Reddit reply regarding microtransactions became the most downvoted comment in the site’s history But also after The House of Mouse stepped in and had words with the publisher over the negative attention.
CoD: WW2 missed out on the WWE action that had Battlefront 2 getting body slammed online. It “quietly” went on to sell over 6.21 million copies. Then, even though the controversial Star Wars title made headlines for all the wrong reasons, it also made bank. Battlefront 2 has sold over 9 million copies since launch.
That’s the June PS Plus lineup pretty much summed up. As more PlayStation and PS5 news releases, we’ll keep you up to date with everything in the world of gaming, movies, and more.
