The Last of Us 2 is chugging along quite nicely. It had its debut trailer at the PlayStation Experience last year and was met with massive praise. Now, it seems as though Shannon Woodward from the HBO tv show Westworld is joining the fun.
Woodward played Elsie, one of the workers for the corporation that ran Westworld and as the series progresses, she bites off more than she can chew. The Last of Us 2 marks the first time this actress will be playing a motion-captured role for a video game. Today, Neil Druckmann, the man helming The Last of Us 2 posted a nice picture of both himself and Woodward in the middle of production.
At this time it’s unknown who Woodward would play. There’s barely any info on The Last of Us 2 other than the single trailer we got. Since that dropped, fans have been making thousands of speculations as to what will happen, where this takes place, and what the plot might be. Judging from the trailer it’s obvious that Ellie is now older, and will be the main playable character. She tells Joel she’s going to “kill them all” after the trailer shows us they’re standing in a house of dead bodies. Did she kill those people, it’s assumed so.
If The Last of Us 2 is a revenge tale, maybe Woodward’s character is the catalyst. In the DLC for the first game, Left Behind, it was confirmed that Ellie is a Lesbian. Maybe Woodward’s character is Ellie’s new love interest, and something happens to her that sends Ellie on a rampage. Of course, this is all wild speculation at this point. The Last of Us 2 is a long time away from release, so for now, nothing concrete has been confirmed.
Neil Druckmann said the anticipated sequel will be a “complementary story” to its predecessor.
