Earlier this year, details about Naughty Dog’s upcoming title, The Last of Us 2 leaked online. We first reported this leak at the end of April and due to copyrighted materials, we were required to edit our coverage of the upcoming game. Since then, Sony and Naughty Dog have announced the game’s new official release date. In preparation for the game’s launch, Sony hosted a State of Play event showcasing some of the latest additions to The Last of Us 2. During the showcase, Naughty Dog gave viewers a taste of what is to come. What do you expect from the new installment?

During Sony’s State of Play, Naughty Dog focused predominately on new gameplay elements and the expanded world. The beginning of the video makes a minor nod to the leaked footage. The also reveals the utilization of the horse to travel; however, the primary focus of the preview was to show new gameplay elements. The Last of Us 2 allows players to step into an immersive experience. Players will now have the option to choose their approach to each situation.

The Last of Us 2

The Last of Us 2 introduces a new sensory mechanic. This new mechanic not only shows Ellie where enemies are but also the scent or trail they have left behind. Ellie will also have the ability to see her own trail. This allows Ellie to mislead enemies. Enemies have updated senses so laying down will no longer cut it. Enemies will now be able to see and hear Ellie as she moves throughout. Ellie will now have assistance from her allies making it easier to survive against the WLF’s (Washington Liberation Front), Seraphites, and infected.

How will you tactically adapt to the situation? Will you stealth through each level or will you take out all those who are in your way? Will you be getting the game when it comes out or will you wait until the price drops?
