This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information.

There are plenty of people out there who love The Last of us; there are also plenty of people who love tabletop and board games. If only there were a way to keep fans of both happy.

Worked out where this is going? That’s right, a Last of Us board game has now been officially announced.

The Last of Us: The Board Game will be developed by CMON, who have previously brought us tabletop versions of other great Sony games, such as Bloodborne and God of War. They promise to bring everything we love about the series as they deliver a fantastic tabletop version. I, for one, can’t wait to see it.

CMON themselves had this to say about the game:

the last of us

“As long-time fans of the series, we recognize the special place these games hold in the hearts and minds of its many fans. The heart-stopping suspense of suddenly hearing an unseen clicker behind you; the intensity of a firefight as you desperately try to tell friend from foe; the heartbreak of being double-crossed and seeing your plans fall apart; the exhilaration of finding a safe place to rest and surviving just one more day even though the odds were against you. The Last of Us is a series that provides a deep, emotional experience combined with endless thrills and excitement.”

It sounds like their fans. VP of entertainment at CMON, Geoff Skinner, definitely is, as he explained that he was a fan since the first game, and absolutely had to bring The Last of Us to tabletop after playing the second.

Unfortunately, no more details have been released at this stage, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated. In the meantime, head over to the comments and let us know your thoughts on this announcement, as well as any other video games you’d love to see get the board game treatment.
