Universal has announced that this year’s Halloween Horror Nights will have a crossover with The Last of Us. This news comes after the game’s 10th anniversary (June 14). While it does not matter due to the closeness of the HBO adaption, this theme park treatment of the franchise is focused on the video game, as seen from the announcement video (seen below).
The Last of Us Meets Halloween Horror Nights this Fall
Similarly seen with The Walking Dead crossovers, Halloween Horror Nights will flood the park’s premises with the infected seen from The Last of Us. Attendees will experience this on September 1 for the park’s Orlando location. The Hollywood location will get the treatment on September 7. This is the first house to be announced for this year’s event. Inside, fans will recognize locations from the game and enemies. Infected will include Clickers and Runners, and the human enemies, like Raiders and The Hunters, will be coming after you.
The announcement video shows a girl playing the 2013 video game developed by Naughty Dog. While video chatting with her friends, she gets cut off from all electricity. The clicks from the infected type, known as the Clicker, make its distinctive clicks with its shadow shown behind the girl. She tries to stay quiet before the infected hears her phone, and she screams until the lights turn on for her safety, disappearing the hungry fungal creature.
The Last of Us has reached a new level of popularity that led to this collaboration with Halloween Horror Nights. The video games have sold over 37 million copies, which include Part I and II, which have been across multiple PlayStation consoles and, recently, PC. Then it got brought to a new audience with the HBO adaption with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. After the WGA strike, a second season will begin filming.
